Gary N. Yalloway, Ph.D.
Manager, Laboratory Operations
Dr. Yalloway joined Globe Laboratories in March 2007, and brings over 14 years multidisciplinary research experience and skills in enzyme engineering and the structural functional relationships of proteins of medical and industrial interest. Dr. Yalloway earned his Ph.D. from University College Dublin, Ireland and was a post doctoral fellow at the Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Frankfurt, Germany and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Before joining Globe he was a postdoctoral research associate at Simon Fraser University where he was lab manager and a team leader responsible for the project management of junior scientists. He has 6 years post-doctoral experience, ten peer reviewed publications and one patent.
Yong Chen, Ph.D., M.D.
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Chen is an experienced scientist with 10 years in pharmaceutical companies and 3 years of post doctoral and 7 years of doctoral experience in the fields of medical immunology, microbiology and in vivo pharmacology. He is the author of 32 published papers and 2 patents in a number of important scientific publications on organ transplantation immunology, tumor Immunology, autoimmune disease and allergy and other diseases. He obtained his Ph.D. in medical immunology at Medical School of Fudan University and was a Post-doctoral fellow in University of British Columbia. He is responsible for conducting and managing the development of Globe Labs recombinants.
Michelle Su, Ph.D.
Lead, Research Technician
Dr. Su has over 6 years of research experience and skills in the field of bioactivity of natural product. She got her Ph.D in biology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong and was a Research Associate in CUHK. She is the author of over 10 scientific papers on chemical characterization and biological activities (especially anticancer activity).
Danny Chan, B.Sc.
Research Assistant
Mr. Chan joined Globe in late 2008. He holds an Associate Certificate in biotechnology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and a Bachelors of Science from Simon Fraser University with experience in protein purification, immune-precipitation, and animal cell culturing.
Mayumi Iwashita, B.Sc.
Research Assistant
Ms. Iwashita has experience with molecular biology techniques – preparation of sterilized materials, media and buffer, bacterial culture, yeast culture, Western blot, Q-dot analysis, PCR, protein purification, DNA purification, RNA purification, RT-PCR, and transformation of yeast. She carries a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia.
Teresa Woodward, B.Sc.
Research Assistant
Ms. Woodward joined Globe early in 2010. She has a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from Simon Fraser University. She has experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology techniques particularly bacterial culture and transformation, gene cloning and PCR.
Ji-Young Kim, B.Sc.
Research Assistant
Ms. Kim joined our group in early 2010. During her studies at McGill University, Ms. Kim gained experience with many molecular biology techniques such as PCR, sequencing, western blotting, transfection and is very familiar working with yeast and bacterial culture as well as cell culture.
